Can not load XP -SATA drivers issue?

I have an Asus A8N-E with an AMD 3800+ and 2 SATA II drives (Hitachi
Deckstar). The system posts fine. I insert the cd that came with the
board, and format a floppy, then chose 1, to copy the 32 bit SATA drivers (I
hope) It copies 7 files, it seems.
I then reboot with the XP CD in the optical drive and press F6. Windows XP
asks if I want to add drivers. (press S to add drivers, etc...) It lists two
drivers, (calling them, however SCSI device support. or some such thing).
It seems to load them
then. I get the license agreement page, and to accept, I need to press F8.
I press F8, but nothing happens. I press page-down, and then F8 - nothing.
I can not get past the F8 part of the install. I changed keyboards, same
thing.

Help please?

Yes, they will be called SCSI drivers. That is normal. Not sure what your
problem is, but make sure your hard drive(s) are hooked up properly and
spinning. As I recall, what you see after the F8 press has to do with
partitioning/formatting your hard drive.

You do NOT need to load drivers from F6 unless you are using the drives
in RAID format. XP (SP2) will recognize SATA natively. I have 3 systems
with various Asus system boards using SATA drives on all and have never
had to load drivers from a floppy.

Just boot from the XP disk and keep going without hitting F6 and your
drives will pop.

I recommend slipstreaming your CD with SP2 if you don't have one already.
Google for Autostreamer and get it. Makes it easy. Download SP2 first if
your install CD does not have it already.

nLite is better than Autostreamer, and lets you add hardware drivers to the
slipstreamed disc as well...
