I upgraded my system with tax refund, I've never ran an Abit board but I
hear they are pretty good. I myself have always used ASUS boards in
performance systems, and ECS boards in econo boxes.
PCI-E IS the way to go. There is no more support for AGP. It would be like
buying a horse and buggy in excellent condition. AGP motherboards and cards
are the same price if not more right now. But... I would hold off on buying
anything right now unless you've just "gotta have it". Because AMD is primed
to come out with yet another socket and CPU. Their new CPU will have DDR2
support.
If you want to, or need to upgrade now, I would suggest getting something
similar to my system so you're good to go for a few years. I know with my
system that I'll be safe for game play, and system performance for 3-5
years.

I agree with the above poster, apart from one thing....
IMHO there is always something better/ faster coming out shortly! I would
agree with the "gotta have it" bit and just get the new stuff. Certainly if
you were to build a replica of that FX 57 system you will be laughing for a
good while yet. In 3- 5 years time maybe Windows Vista will have been
released as well.....
