I am running an ASUS P5A motherboard with bios level 1007a and would like to
know what the maximum hard drive the motherboard will recognize.

Does anyone know?

Is this newsgroup monitored by an ASUS Tech?

Thanks,

Jim

Go to the ASUS website and download the laitest "Beta" BIOS. I'm not sure
what the limit is, but someone I know is using an 80GB HDD with the P5A-B
MB.

If you are using a new HDD with this motherboard, you might consider getting
a Promise PCI IDE controller for it. The reason being that the onboard IDE
controller for the P5A has a maximum bus speed of 33MB/s. Since new drives
are capable of 60MB/s +, it'll make a huge difference in performance.
