I've acquired an A8V board. When turned on the power comes on, the LED
lights & the fans spin but it won't POST. The CPU was in another
computer so I'm confident it's good. I tested the Video card in another
computer and it works. What to try next? TIA.

Check your video card for proper *seating*, or even try a different video
card if possible.
Monitor connected properly and working?
Are you hearing any "beep" codes when booting? If so, how many?

Tried the video card swap. Monitor is connected and working. There are
no beeps.

No beeps usually means.... baaad! Probably the Motherboard or CPU!!
A similar problem actually happened to me once with a "known good"
processor...sadly it turned out something killed the cpu when installing! A
check of this same processor in a different computer confirmed the "good"
processor was indeed DEAD.
A new cpu fixed the problem.

Good luck

Crap. I feared a response such as this. Well, I have the ability to test
the CPU (an AMD Athlon64 3500+) in another compatible motherboard so I
suppose that will tell the story. However, I suspect it's the board
since it was a refurb unit. Thanks.

I had the same problem (fan spining lights on but no beeps or boot). I
tore out everything and placed it on a cardboard box. So I had just
the PSU, MOBO, Memory (by the way if you remove the memory you should
get some beeps) Video Card & CPU. Lights lit up fan spins but no boot
or beeps. Funny, it turned out I had the jumper pin on the CMOS on
just one pin. I corrected that and, Presto! Machine came back to life
(It boots now). IMHO check EVERYTHING Sideshow Bob!! Tear it down (if
need be) and start with just the basics. Good Luck!

Hmm, Okay Thanks. I was going to remove the board from the case this
weekend so I'll give it a close inspection beforehand. I removed the CPU
and tested it in another board. Booted up normally.
